Dr. Shakira Jameson

DVM

DVM, Colorado State University
Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and Ag Business, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Shakira (pronounced Sah-keeda) Jameson was born in Spain and raised here in the valley. A 1995 graduate of Cathedral City High School, she is excited to be back. Dr. Jameson did her undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, earning her BS degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Business. In 2012 she also graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Jameson completed a 1-year internship at VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona, rotating through internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine in Mesa, Arizona.

Dr. Jameson enjoys spending her time off relaxing, wine tasting or cooking, and entertaining her friends and family at home.

Dr. Jameson looks forward to meeting you and taking excellent care of your pets and their health.

Dr. Alexis Rambaud

DVM, CVA, CVMMP

Dr. Alexis Rambaud is a California native born and raised in the Inland Empire. She received a Bachelor’s degree in English from UC Riverside and earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Rambaud joined the Paws & Claws family in 2018 and continues to study new ways to help your pets live happier and healthier lives.

She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and an Ayurvedic health counselor. She is not only certified in acupuncture, but she is now certified in medical manipulation (musculoskeletal manipulation = chiropractic) Additional interests include nutrition and herbal medicine.

Dr. Rambaud lives in Mountain Center with her husband, son, and a menagerie of dogs and cats. One of them is Turkey, a little chihuahua mix that can often be seen helping around the clinic.

Oscar Martinez

Veterinary Technician

Oscar has lived in the Coachella valley for most of his life. He graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 2004 and went to Long Technical College in Phoenix, Arizona, to study and become a Veterinary Technician. While in school, he worked alongside Dr. Hirsch in Phoenix for a year and a half. He missed his family, so he moved back to the Coachella Valley with his 10-year-old son and two cats (Fiona and Phelix). He has since added two more dogs to his family, a male Mastiff Mix named Rufus and a female Pomeranian named Zhu Zhu. He has worked in the veterinary field for the past 12 years. The pets and clients he worked with have enriched his professional and personal experiences, and he loves being able to put the sparkle back into the eye of our four-legged family members.

Becca Magnetti

Veterinary Technician

Becca is a native South Floridian who moved to SoCal in 2015. Becca started in the veterinary field in 1997 as a receptionist and soon after discovered her love for the medical aspect of veterinary care. She spent 10 years in Emergency and Critical Care and has significant experience with exotics and avian species but enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine. Becca married her high school sweetheart in 2003 and has two amazing kids, a Pitbull mix named Chunk, and five cats ranging from 2 to 16 years old: Mr. McFly, Fancy Pants, One-Eyed Willie, Romeo and Kylo “aka Murderface” (all rescues). When not working, she enjoys tending to her garden, doing arts and crafts, snuggling her critters, swimming, playing in the sun, and hanging out with her family.

Stacie McKinley
Stacie McKinley

LVT: Licensed Veterinary technician

Stacie was born and raised in Michigan, and she moved to California in 2015 with her husband to enjoy the warmer weather. She is a licensed veterinary technician in the state of Michigan and has been working in the veterinary field since high school. She has worked in general practice, emergency medicine, oncology, and has experience in acupuncture, which she is excited to practice and learn more about here at Paws and Claws. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, traveling, and anything involving the outdoors. She currently shares her home with a dove named Gracie, her cat Sheldon, and dogs Piper, Ana, and Leonard (all rescues and two foster fails). She also fosters pets through the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, which keeps her house very busy but full of excitement.

Janay-Moffatt
Janay Moffatt

Veterinary Technician

Janay grew up in the Coachella Valley and has been in the veterinary field for six years. Her career began in emergency and critical care and continued into general practice. Although Janay doesn’t have any fur babies of her own yet, she enjoys caring for and loving the ones she meets on a day-to-day basis. During her free time, Janay loves going to the gym, listening to music, and discovering new foods to try.

Rocio Delgado
Receptionist

I was born and raised here in the desert. I love my job, being able to see all the animals coming in and out the doors. I joined the Paws and Claws team in Spring 2021 but been in the field since 2018. I have an English bulldog, a pug and mastiff who I love with all my heart. I love going to concerts and hanging out with my brothers on my free time.

Gloria Cortez
Doctor’s Assistant

Gloria was born in Tucson, Arizona & moved here to the valley at a very young age. She studied veterinary assistance at College of the Desert in 2019 & has been in the veterinary field ever since. She recently rescued a chihuahua mixed puppy named Cudi (Duckee) whom she brings with her to work every day. In her spare time, she loves to hang out with family, friends, and Cudi. She enjoys working alongside animals and is excited to venture further in her veterinary career.

Melissa Thacker

Registered Veterinary Technician

Melissa Thacker is a native Southern Californian. She is married with a daughter and four dogs. As a family, they enjoy trying new foods and traveling to exotic places. She attended Cal Poly Pomona, where she got her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health Science. She has been in the Veterinary field since 2008 and got her RVT license in 2013.

Maritza Hernandez
Receptionist

Maritza was born and raised in Southern California. She has always been an animal lover and joined the veterinary field in 2019. Maritza is a parent to her beautiful 1-year-old son and 3-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, Bowser. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing and video games.

Kayla Cortez
Veterinary Technician

Kayla is a native of Palm Springs California who started in the veterinary field at 17 years old as a veterinary assistant in October of 2015 and soon discovered her passion for animals and the medical aspect of veterinary medicine and has been growing in the field ever since. Kayla has three children, one son named Elias who is 3 years old and a baby girl, Penelope who is two months old and 4 year-old husky named Aries. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and swimming.
